Our beautiful engagement weekend started out on July 30th with Jennifer driving back to Ankeny Iowa from Overland Park Kansas.
Since we are always on the road to each other's houses we like to plan something special for the one on the road throughout the weekend! So when Aaron told me he had a weekend planned I didn't think anything of it.
I got to Aaron's house Friday night with a glass of wine and supper waiting for me on the table! Aaron and I have spent the last 2-3 years going to different wineries around Kansas, we have experienced the best tasting wines and the most amazing conversations at these different wineries. So I would have to say that wine is our drink of choice when we are together!
After supper he somewhat explained to me what we were going to do tomorrow (Saturday). He has been telling me the last few months that we were going to go sky diving from a plane. I was not to excited about it at first- but the more I slept on it the more I thought it would be a lot of fun! Also knowing that my brother, Kent, is playing in the State Championship Baseball, Aaron knew that I didn't want to miss that!
Saturday comes around. As we got in the car heading to "sky dive" he reaches in the backseat for an eye mask and tells me that he doesn't want me to know where we are going to get into the plane at. I am still playing a long not thinking of anything! He told me we have a 30 minute drive and throughout that time I get to have three peaks to see where we are going! Even with the peaks I had no idea where we were at.
When we got to our location, we didn't end up at an airport, but rather at Summer Set Winery. This winery is one of the few we never went to yet and I have always wanted to go! Aaron continued with his story by saying that it was to cloudy to go sky diving this morning so we will have to wait a few hours to see if it gets better.
What I didn't know if that Aaron came to Summer Set Winery earlier that week to talk to the owner and explained the whole day! So when we walked in we got greeted by three ladies. We got a tour of the beautiful winery and after got to taste all their different wines. Afterwards, we chose our favorite bottle and bought one! This is nothing abnormal for us! We always agree on a bottle and buy it then go sit somewhere and talk! We did just that! It was a beautiful day so we walked outside into the vineyard.
After walking for about 5-10 minutes we came upon a beautiful tree with a glass table and chairs right in the middle of the vines! We sat down, poured each other a glass of wine and started talking! Eventually we got up and walked though the vines. Aaron asked me to come and take a picture with him, little did I know he tied my amazing ring on a beautiful bow hanging on the vine behind us in the photo.
When he asked me to look at the photo on my camera, I of course looked at myself to see how I looked! As I looked up in the corner of my eye I saw the most beautiful ring glistening in the sun, as I turned towards him he was already on his knee. I immediately started to cry! He did a wonderful job at telling me how much he loved me and no matter what we will always be there for each other and remember the wonderful times we shared!
After I come to realization again, we sat down at the glass table under the tree to talk some more, take a few more pictures and enjoyed each other's company. Aaron then mentioned that we need to get on the road for our next stop. He set it up with my family to meet before Kent's State Baseball Game for drinks! On the drive to downtown I started to make a few phone calls to my family and friends!
As we walked into The Miller High Life to meet my family, the rest of Kuemper's Cheering crowd was there also to congratulate us! Seeing my family and giving hugs and kisses to my mom, dad, and Jadie really made it real! It was so amazing to share that special day with my family watching Kent play baseball! (It is my all time favorite thing to do in the summer time!!)
After the baseball game and waiting for Kent to come out of the locker room to tell him the exciting news we took off to the next place on Aaron's list. Just as I thought the day was perfect it got so much better. He set up a beautiful Hot Air balloon ride at sunset! It was the most amazing thing ever! A perfect ending to a perfect day!
Sunday came around and we got up to head to church, just like any other Sunday morning! Not thinking anything of it. As we were pulling into the driveway, getting back from church I was explaining to Aaron how I would really like to get our families together for them to all meet each other! Family is really important to the both of us and our whole families have never been together. While the garage door is opening I see people standing in the middle. As I realize who it was I heard "CONGRATULATIONS!" Aaron set up for our families to be together. He got all the food and drinks and cleaned the whole house while I was sleeping!
Aaron did such an amazing job throughout the whole weekend, he didn't forget a thing! It was so perfect! I couldn't have asked for anything more!
